Chinese Ambassador to Croatia H. E. Mr. Qi Qianjin Visits the City of Ogulin

    On August 24, at the invitation of Ogulin Mayor Mr. Dalibor Domitrović, the Chinese Ambassador to Croatia H.E. Mr.Qi Qianjin went to Ogulin for an inspection visit. During the meeting, Ambassador Qi held talks with Mayor Domitrovic, attended the opening ceremony of the "China in the Lens of Famous Chinese Photographers" photo exhibition co-organized by the Croatia-China Friendship Association and the Ogulin Municipal Government, and inspected the local key enterprise Bjelin Company. 

Ambassador Qi said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Croatia 30 years ago, friendly cooperation, mutual benefit, and win-win results had always been the main theme of the development of bilateral relations. The Pelješac Bridge, constructed by the Chinese company, was successfully opened to traffic, fulfilling the long-cherished wish of the Croatian people to connect the north and south of the country, and greatly promoting the development of Croatia's economy and tourism. The bridge is a symbol of friendship between the two countries and the two peoples, as well as a model of trilateral cooperation between China, Croatia, and Europe. Ogulin City has a long history, culture, and outstanding industrial advantages. It is a city with important development potential. The Chinese Embassy in Croatia is willing to expand and deepen the local cooperation with China for Ogulin City, and do a good job as a guarantor and matchmaker between the Chinese and Croatian sides.

Ambassador Qi expounded Chinese principled position on the Taiwan issue, spoke highly of the Croatian government's adherence to the one-China policy, and emphasized that "peaceful reunification, one country, two systems" is China's basic policy for resolving the Taiwan issue. There is no room for any country to back down. China will firmly oppose foreign interference and firmly defend national sovereignty, security, and development interests. Mayor Domitrović said that Croatia firmly supports China's position on the Taiwan issue, believes that China has always been an important force in maintaining world peace, and believes that China will resolve the Taiwan issue through peaceful means. Domitrović said that on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Croatia and China, Ambassador Qi's visit to Ogulin was of great significance. Ogulin City has a long history and culture. It is the hometown of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, a famous Croatian fairy tale writer. It also has rich production resources such as wood and agricultural products. Ambassador Qi added that China is willing to take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Croatia and China as an opportunity to further close cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, and tourism, strengthening the cooperation between relevant local provinces and cities.

At the opening ceremony of the "China through the Lens of Famous Chinese Photographers", the guests from China and Croatia fully affirmed the success of the photography exhibition and agreed that the photography exhibition opened a new window for Ogulin citizens to appreciate Chinese culture and understand China's development achievements. It will also make positive contributions to enhancing understanding and deepening friendship between the Chinese and Croatian people in the new era.

During the inspection of Bjelin Company, which integrates floor design, R&D, manufacturing, and sales, Ambassador Qi listened carefully to the introduction of the company's development history, business status, and cooperation with China from the company's representative, and encouraged the company to make full use of China's super-large market, actively participate in the China International Import-Expo, cooperate with China and Central and Eastern European countries, further expand the export of enterprises to China, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
